This is not a Drill

I do not work with tools. I wish I were more handy, but alas, when I need anything installed in my home, I usually have to call a professional.

But those of you who are like me — people who walk around Home Depot like they’re on another planet — know that there are many things that can be done without having to take a room down to the studs.

Being organized is about being honest about the way you live. You don’t need a hammer and nails to honor the way you live your life. If you are the kind of person who likes dumping their stuff the minute you walk in the door, there are many ways to stay organized without building a mud room. A low shelf for shoes, hooks on the wall and a bowl for your keys sitting by your door might be just the answer you’re looking for.

I don’t want to stop anyone from thinking big. It’s nice to set a the exciting goal of redoing the kitchen or building an addition. But don’t convince yourself that that’s what it’s going to take to get organized. Organization starts with building habits that suit your lifestyle. No tool belt required!
